In bike skills I was able to ride over all of the obstacles including riding down the stairs.

Next time I will use the gears more to prevent pressure or to make the pedaling easier.

Basic Needs for Survival

My Reflection

In room 19 we have been researching the basic needs that humans need for survival.  We used websites to find this information and then we created an imovie to explain this information to the class

I was able to find the important ideas about the 5 basic needs that we need to survive and I also was able to write the important facts/ideas in my own words so that I could understand what I was writing.

In my group I think I co-operated really well so that everyone had a chance speaking and sharing.

Term 2 Showcase

Walt: Use Personification in my Writing.

Last week on Thursday Edge Water College came to Elm Park Primary School for a touch clinic. We went to the shade area and got put into groups of six. Then just like a long snake we walked onto the field where we were going to have the clinic.

When we got on to the field with our groups we  got put with Mario, he was 15 years old. 

The First thing we did was play octopus but it was a little different, the tagger had to hold half of a swimming noodle. Whoever is in calls out something like run if you have a jumper on then everyone who has a jumper on will try to run to the other side of the court. If you get tagged you have to stand in the place you got tagged and sway around and try to touch people to get them out.

Anyway after that we had a proper game of touch. I thought it was really fun and hope we get to do it again soon!

Room 6 Buddy Class

Room 6 is our buddy class for 2016. Every week we have been meeting our buddies and have shared stories with them, had a shared lunch under the tree and we found out some secret information about them and designed some bookmarks to give them.

I really enjoy visiting my buddy because she is kind. I love little kids and she always holds my hand and gives me hugs good bye.

My buddy is always so excited to see me. She is the best buddy ever !!!!

I have written a Kennings Poem about me so that other people in the class got to know more information about me.  In our poem we brainstormed different ideas about ourselves.

I was able to use interesting adjectives to describe myself and follow a structure by starting each sentence with a and an.

Next time I am going to use more year 6 quirky words eg. chatter

Te Tuhi Trip

My Reflection

I was learning to make a collage.

I had to get a carbon paper and put it over my cardboard.

Then I had to get a picture from a magazine and draw over the parts of the picture that I wanted to have on my collage. When I lifted the carbon paper of it had on what I drew over.

It was easy to choose the picture.

I was hard to keep the carbon sheet still.

I was proud that I made my first collage .

My next step is to make more collages.

I was learning how to make a small speech about myself.

I found it tricky because i didn't know how to pronounce some of the maori words.

I found it easy to colour and draw the art.

My next step is to try harder and longer to pronounce the maori words

Kaitiaki God

My reflection

I was learning about Maori Legends and gods.

For art we copied or created our own god.

Mine was a bit weird because it is GOD OF THE DEVILS.

As you can see mine is not a Maori legend because i created it.

I found it tricky to think of the words to describe my god.

I found it fun and easy to draw colour and display my art/god of the devils.

My next step is to use a little bit better describing words.

It was tricky to remember what the Moari words mean.

It was easy to read the slide.

Next time I'm going to stick the meanings of the Moari words in my head.

Term 1 Week 4

Yesterday my class and I made Chinese lanterns  for Chinese new year.

On my one I put Chinese symbols and a dragon.

I got some blue card board for mine.

I enjoyed making Chinese lanterns it was fun.


My reflection
I was learning about Chinese new year.
I found it easy to decorate my lantern.
I found it tricky when i was cutting the lantern because I kept cutting in the wrong place.
My next step is to concentrate  more on the cutting.

I was learning how to plant seeds.

My Reflection

It was tricky to push the spade in to the ground.

It was easy  pick the plant from all of them.

I was proud that I learnt how to plant seeds.

Next time I will be more careful with taking the tubs of the plants.

It was tricky to take a photo of something that moves in the wind.

It was  easy to find something to take a photo of.

I was proud that I could finally take the photo and make sure it was clear.

Next time I will try and take a photo that doesn't move.
