Maths Evidence - Term 3




Reflection
WALT: use pvp to solve subtraction problems.
I was able to solve subtraction problems using pvp because I know
my place value.
Next time I want to solve harder subtraction problems with decimals using pvp.

Maths Evidence

Walt:  find fractions of sets by using multiplication and division eg. ⅓ of 21 is 7.


Question : Freddy had 40 toy pandas, He shared them with his mates Max and Louis. Freddy gave Max 2/4 of the toy pandas and Louis had 1/4 of the leftover toy pandas. How many pandas do Max and Louis get each?




Success Criteria:I was able to use my knowledge of division facts to help me solve fractions of sets. I understood that I needed to divide the amount in the set by the denominator eg. 21 divided by 7 is I understood that I needed to find out what the fraction of a set was for a unit fractions was before I could find out what the fraction of a set when the numerator was more than 1.


Reflection
Next time I will have bigger sets and bigger fractions to solve for my learning, to make it more challenging.

October Reflection
I am proud that I got 100% on my test I hope to get 100% next time aswell

September Reflection
I am proud of my score next time I will try to get the 1% more to make it to 100%

August Reflection
I am proud that I kept my 100% score. I have now got it three times in a row. Next time I hope I keep 100% as my score

July Reflection
I am proud of my score again. I achieved my goal of my 8x tables and my 4x tables. My next goal in going to be to take 4:00 minutes or under to complete me test.

June Reflection
I am so proud that I got 100 on my next test i'm going to try to get 100 again.

May Reflection
I am still proud with my score even though I went down by 15%. Next time I will practice my 8 times tables.

April Reflection

I am proud that I got 41% more than last time.  I know the reason I got a better score is because I have been practising on Mathletics lots.


March Reflection
I am proud with my score.   Next time I need to make sure I don't get muddled up with my addition and multiplication signs.

Maths Evidence - Term 1 2016




Maths Reflection

In maths I have been learning to improve my knowledge and understanding of numbers.
I was able to round to the nearest numbers really well because I know that numbers 1,2,3,4 are rounded down and numbers 5,6,7,8,9 get rounded up.
Next time I will need to learn how to identify groupings of 10, 100 in 4 digit numbers because I took a while to do this and sometimes I get confused.

Yahtzee follow-up



My Reflection
I was learning about probability.
I had to fill in this follow up about probability and calculate how  many different ways there are to roll a Yahtzee.
I found it easy to find the probability of rolling a 5.
My next step is to learn more about probability.

My Reflection
I found this tricky because you only had two minutes to complete the puzzle.
It was easy because I do puzzles quite a lot.
Next time i will try harder to complete the puzzle before the time runs out.

I was learning about shapes

I had to say and count how many faces,corners and how many edges that shape has.
I thought it was easy because all I had to do was count.
My next step is to learn more about shapes in geometry

I prefer rounding and compensating because it always works and place value does not work all the time.

Place Value 2


My Reflection

I was learning to read numbers up to 1000 and to say which is bigger or smaller.

The thing that helped me most was:
- using my basic facts to help with bigger numbers
- remembering to look at the left to see if the digits are bigger
- using streets and houses to break up bigger numbers
- realising that the success criteria doesn’t change when the numbers get bigger
- seeing patterns in the numbers that don’t change when they get bigger
- practising on Mathletics

My next step is to:

- try the same activity using bigger numbers
- use this information to move problems

                                           I was learning to tell the time on an analogue clock.
                                             At first I found it difficult to understand the time.
  I found it easy to know the hours.
Next time I need to learn quarters and half past.

I was learning to recognise fractions of shapes and groups.
I found it tricky to know what number was the numerator and which was the denominator.
I am proud that I learnt about halves and quarters. 
Next time I will use bigger numbers when I do more fractions.

I was learning about 3D shapes.
I found it tricky to remember how many corners,faces and edges. 
It was easy to remember what the shapes were called.
I was proud when I had remembered how many corners,faces and edges there were on the shapes.
Next time I will learn more about 3D shapes.

Reflection

I was learning to understand my facts about  2D shapes.
I found it tricky to learn the facts about the shapes.
It was easy to remember the names of the shapes.
I was proud that I finally understood my shapes.

Reflection
At the beginning it was tricky to understand why we had to add the numbers and subtract the numbers.
Now it is easy to understand what to do with the numbers.
